Mariana Zvetkova was
born and raised in
Bulgaria.
After completing her degrees at the
Academy
of
Music
in
Sofia,
she began her career in
Bulgaria,
singing the lead roles in Il
Trovatore, Aida, Tannhaeuser.
To further her
professional studies, she went to
Italy
to study with Boris Christoff at the
Academy
of
Arts
and Culture in
Rome
and at
Indiana
University
with Martina Arroyo.
Since then, Ms.
Zvetkova embarked upon her
international career, which has
taken her to
La Scala in Milano,
Munich State Opera, Deutsche Oper
Berlin, Tokyo National Theater, Lyon
National Orchestra, Radio
France,
and Semper Oper in
Dresden
among others,
working with Giuseppe Sinopoli, Johanes Schaaf, Willie Waters, Alfonso Scarano,
Stefan Soltez, Ivan Torcz, Plamen Kartalov, Nayden Todorov,
Hugo de Ana, Luca Ronconi..
Under the batton of
Giuseppe Sinopoli, Ms.
Zvetkova recorded Dvorak's Stabat
Mater with Deutsche Gramophon Label
as well as Beethoven's 9th Symphony
with Radio
France and Evgenij Svetlanov;
Rachmaninov "Opera Highlights from Aleko,The Miserly Knight
and Francesca da Rimini" with
Nayden Todorov,
Sofia National Opera and Naxos .
Among the
Competitions Ms. Zvetkova
participated in, she won The Grand
Prix of The International
Competition in Toulouse in 1998, was
a Laureate at the Queen Elisabeth
Voice Competition in Brussels in
1996 and 2nd Prize Winner at The
Puccini Foundation Competition in
New York in 1999.
She is also the
recipient of Grants and Awards from
The Olga Forrai Foundation, the
Singers Development Foundation, the
Gerda Lissner Foundation and the
Sullivan Foundation.
